Are their aliens currently living in Earth? Famed film director Steven Spielberg thinks so. At a recent South by Southwest (SXSW) Film and TV Festival, Spielberg confidently asserted, “We are not alone here on Earth right now!” We don’t know if Spielberg was simply promoting his new Disclosure Day film or if he has previously secret information that will CORROBORATE or support his bold claim.
SAT test writers have thus far shown no interest in evidence that might CORROBORATE the possibility that aliens have visited Earth. But they are very interested in studies that CORROBORATE scientific and artistic claims. For example, recent vocabulary in context questions used CORROBORATE to confirm research that fungi maintain surface temperatures cooler than their surroundings and that Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa is actually a disguised self-portrait.
Don’t let the SAT test writers confuse you with detailed background information. Instead, look for contextual phrases such as “support with evidence” that clearly point to CORROBORATE as the most precise answer.
CORROBORATE – to provide evidence that supports a claim
