What do Superman and the British pound have in common? The answer is easy – both illustrate the SAT word EXEMPLAR. An EXEMPLAR is a person or thing that serves as a model or example.
Superman is often considered the first superhero. The indestructible “Man of Steel” uses his nearly invincible powers to fight crime and benefit humanity. As a result, he has become an EXEMPLAR of “truth, justice, and the American way.”
SAT test writers have yet to use Superman in a vocabulary in context question. In contrast, they have made frequent use of the British pound. The pound is the world’s oldest continuously used currency. During the eighteenth century, it became a recognized EXEMPLAR of sound fiscal stability.
