In the iconic movie Clueless, Josh called Cher a “SUPERFICIAL space cadet.” SUPERFICIAL aptly described Cher’s shallow materialistic lifestyle.
SUPERFICAL is a classic SAT word that regularly appeared on old SAT exams. I was very pleased to see that SUPERFICIAL made its debut on a recent Digital SAT. Needless to say, SAT test writers did not use Cher to illustrate SUPERFICIAL. Instead, they described the SUPERFICAL way that colonists in British North America complied with frivolous laws regulating clothing and fashion. I’m confident Cher would have ignored these SUPERFICIAL regulations!
